Campaign:
Wrigley's Extra - Tooth Fairy
Running on:
Promotional packs of Wrigley's Extra or Extra Ice - Wrigley's
Company Ltd
What's the big idea:
There's probably a fair amount of misinformation about chewing gum
and teeth. Chewing gum does stimulate saliva production, which
produces a number of
benefits, not least the neutralisation of acid and therefore
limiting the growth of plaque. But, bacteria in your mouth thrive
on the sugar in your chewing gum so the benefit only really applies
to sugar free gum. If your gum is sweetened with Xylitol,
even better. Xylitol stops bacteria breaking down sugar in the
first place so that really is a win win.
So, with their sugarfree Extra brand and Xylitol sweetened Extra
Ice variant, Wrigley's are aligning themselves with the spiritual
harvester of the planet's milk teeth (what does she do with them?),
the tooth fairy. Fortunately no painful dentistry required here and
you could win a Lady Godiva.
