What's the big idea:
This is a formidable 10% cheaper price challenge designed to steal market share from the other big 4 supermarkets and secure your entire weekly shop every week. ASDA has always presented itself as a cheaper option so I guess the subtext is that you can safely experience the quality ASDA has to offer without any risk. If your shopping is 10% cheaper then you've saved money, if it isn't then you'll be given the difference anyway. 

How:
You must purchase at least 8 items of which at least 1 should be comparable against the equivalent item in the other big 4. You have to go to the promotional website or use the free iPhone app to take the price challenge. You have to enter specific information from the till receipt which will pull in the specific items from your shopping trip. So, mercifully you don't have to enter each and every item on the website. The price comparison itself is powered by mysupermarket - a fantastically powerful online tool which allows you to work out the cheapest place to do your grocery shopping by comparing the live prices of goods across all the retailer's websites. If there is a difference in the basket value you will be given a voucher for use in store or online.

Obviously with such a generous offer there are certain limitations and restrictions to ensure that consumers don't run wild. For example, you can't compare prices for: Home, Electricals, Furnishings, Garden, Entertainment, Hardware, Sports, George, Kiosk, Jewellery, Pharmacy, Optical, Fuel, Photo-processing, Dry Cleaning and all online only products including financial services, flowers, mobile, travel and gifts.

The key points are:

• ASDA will only count the same individual item a maximum of 10 times for each comparison. So you can't just fill your trolley with the same thing.
• You can only make 10 claims per calendar month per household
• The total amount that can be claimed is limited to £100 per calendar month
• Vouchers must be used within 28 days of issue and cannot be used in concessions (e.g. Dry cleaners) within an ASDA store

What's on offer:
If you're shopping isn't 10% cheaper at ASDA they'll refund the difference
The difference will be paid as a coupon against future purchases although customer services will give you the cash if you are spending less than the value of the voucher.

Any good?
Absolutely - it's a win win if you regularly buy big name brands. They'll be the same wherever you buy them and ASDA could pay you an extra 10% of the savings you could have made elsewhere. Not naming any names, but I know one family that is obsessively scouring ASDA floors for discarded receipts to take advantage of the deal. Some people eh?
